- Empingham Cricket and Social Club wins CAMRA East Midlands Club of the Year

Running swiftly after having the CAMRA East Midlands Pub of the Year in our branch, Empingham Cricket and Social Club has won the CAMRA East Midlands Club of the Year. This means the club is in the last rounds to be the CAMRA national Club of the Year.

In the next round they will be up against the Knowle Club in Mirfield, West Yorkshire and last years Club of the Year the Billingham Catholic Club in Middleborough. Further details of the competition, run in conjunction with the Club Mirror magazine, can be found here: Club Mirror Competition
- Rutland CAMRA raises £865 for the Air Ambulance Service

Rutland CAMRA were able to present the Air Ambulance Service with £865 raised during this year's annual Beer and Cider Festival.
The money was raised through the sale of wine and soft drinks, unused beer and cider tokens, and returned glasses where the owner opted to donate their deposit to the charity.

Shonagh Groves the Air Ambulance's Community Fundraising Executive - Leicestershire and Rutland said "What an amazing total! Please pass on my thanks to everybody involved in raising these funds for us – we are very grateful and it will go a long way to supporting our patients and their families when they need us most."
- Railway Inn, Ketton - East Midlands Pub of the Year

The Railway Inn, Ketton, has been announced as CAMRA East Midlands Pub of the Year. After winning the Rutland and Leicestershire Pub of the year it was then judged against the winners of the Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire Pubs of the Year and won!.
Great news for the Railway and great news for Rutland which demonstrates we have some excellent pubs.

- Summer Pub of the Season announced.

At our recent branch meeting (12 August) the winner of the Summer Pub of the Season award was announced; the Railway Inn, Ketton.
Congratulations also go to our runners up the Blue Bell, Belmesthorpe and the Exeter Arms, Uppingham.
We are planning to present the Railway Inn with their award on Monday 24 August when they will also be presented with their East Midlands Pub of the Year award.

It airs on Friday 24th July starting at 12:15pm. The collection will be featured mid-programme probably around 12:35pm

- The Grainstore wins Spring Pub of the Season award

At last night's branch meeting in the Old White Hart at Lyddington (Weds 13 May), branch chair Kevin Thompson announced that the Grainstore had received the most votes of the three shortlisted pubs and therefore had won our Spring Pub of the Season award.
The runners up were the Plough at Greetham and the Railway at Ketton. Winning pub of the Season is awarded with a place in the Good Beer Guide subject to maintaining the same excellent beer quality and customer service.
A date will be arranged with Richard, Andrea and the team at the Grainstore for the presentation of their certificate.
- Railway at Ketton wins Rutland and Leicestershire Pub of the Year

Last night (Thursday 7 May) Kevin Thompson presented the Railway at Ketton with the Rutland CAMRA Pub of the Year certificate. A great evening was had by all. Live music was provided by Eddie Markey and Jamie and Louby kindly provided Scotch Eggs and Pork Pies for everyone to enjoy.

The evening was topped off by the additional announcement that the Railway had gone forward for judging against the CAMRA Leicestershire branches Pubs of the Year (Hinckley and Bosworth, Leicester, Loughborough and Melton Mowbray branches) and had won again! It will now go forward for judging against the best of the East Midlands pubs.
The Rutland and Leicestershire Pub of the Year certificate will be presented at the July branch meeting which will be held at the pub on the 9 July.
- Spring 2026 Pub of the Season Contenders announced

At the April branch meeting the top three pubs, having the highest beer quality scores awarded between January and March 2026, were announced.
The top three pubs (in no particular order) are:
Grainstore Brewery Tap at Oakham
Plough at Greetham
Railway at KettonBeer scores have taken them to the short list, but to win the Pub of the Season (POTS) you are asked to consider the wider CAMRA criteria when casting your vote, namely:
* Quality and Condition of the Product;
* Promotion and Knowledge of the Product;
* Cleanliness and Staff Hygiene;
* Community Focus;
* Service and Welcome;
* Style, Decor and Atmosphere;
* Sympathy with CAMRA's values; and
* Overall impression and Value.Therefore, please visit the 3 pubs (don't rely on previous visits please), and make your vote for the pub of the season.
Please send your e-vote to ku.gro.armac.dnaltur@yraterces as soon as possible and no later than Friday 8th May so that the result can be announced at our branch meeting on Wednesday 13th May.
Please provide your name, CAMRA membership number and your (one) choice of pub. The more of you that vote, the more representative the result becomes.
